Brașov, România

When we drove into Brașov, I knew this was going to be one of my favorite places in Romania. I fell in love.

It’s been 25 years since my first missions trip oversees and it was to France. Over the years I traveled to other parts of Europe, but the last time I really spent time in Europe was probably the mid 2000's.

Walking around Brașov brought back so many wonderful memories from my first adventures to Europe. I love all of the wonderful historical colorful buildings. I love all of the old narrow cobblestone roads. The architecture in these towns and villages are stunning.

A couple friends and I spent a couple nights here, exploring the area and taking in all of it’s beauty.

Brașov îs în the Transylvania region of Romania, surrounded by the Carpathian mountains.

We also went up in one of these trams, standing behind the Brașov sign, capturing this amazing view.

Turda Salt Mine

I wasn’t sure how I was going to be, going down into the salt mines, knowing it was around 400 feet below….but once I saw how big and spacious it is down there, I was too much in awe to freak out!!

The Salina Turda salt mines are located in the Transylvania region of Romania. A couple friends and I took the time to explore the mines a bit one day.

This mine produced salt dated back to year 1075 and stopped working back in 1932. It opened up to the public for tourism in 1992.

From 2008 to 2010, it was closed for remodeling, bringing a more modernized look to it.

You could actually rent these little boats and go around the water down in the mines.

As you can see in this shot above, they have a small Ferris wheel down there to ride.

Old Town

This became my favorite street to walk down, and it went into my favorite place in Constanta, Old Town.

From the first time I walked through Old Town, I fell in love with it. All the old buildings with so much history in them. All of the old cobblestone roads. I loved it.

Old Town wasn’t too far from where I was living, just a short bus ride away. I went there often, especially since the church I was attending was in Old Town and I would have communication meetings with my friends at a Cafe there as well.

Before I left I made sure I went up to the local historical mosque in the center of Old Town. I climbed up the tower and was able to get some amazing city shots.

I love, love, loved photographing these two!!! They are some of the coolest people I know!!!

I had told all of the staff that I am available for photo sessions if they wanted or needed. These two hit me up and I’m so glad they did!! They are a natural in front of the camera!!

Madi was on the communications team that I was apart of while working at the base. And Giuniet worked with the DTS that was going on at the time. They are both fun, loving, caring, kind and super cool!!

At the end of the photo session, we went to Madi’s favorite coffee shop and Giuniet popped the question!! I was so happy I could capture this special moment for them!!

Constanța, România

While I was staying at the Constanta base, I took time to really explore the area. I would take walks every now and again walking different directions, exploring the streets around me. If I took a bus, I would photograph all that I would see around me.

There was so much beauty surrounding me and I was so excited to capture it all.

This was the tram car that I took with a couple of friends one day, before summer was gone. It went right down the shoreline, above shops and hotels, right next to the Black Sea.

The two photos (above and below) are two of my favorite night shots I got of the city. Constanta is an amazing and beautiful city to learn from and explore.

The Black Sea

The YWAM Constanta base was just a 5 minute walk to the Black Sea. So of course I went there as often as I could, even on the cold and windy days.

I arrived just at the end of summer, so I was able to see the summer crowds before they drifted away. During the summer, this is pretty much what it looks like, lots of people playing in the water and the beaches lined with chairs and umbrellas for rent.

The photo above and below was in old town, close to the large port. The building below is a famous building, the Casino. I was sad to see it still in the middle of remodeling, as you couldn’t really see the beauty in it’s entirety.

This photo was taken above, in a tramway going across the shore.

One evening after church, a friend and I went down to one of the small ports to get some shots of the boats. It was a perfect night, with the fog and all of the lights around the port.
